Introducing the “Listening Mode” series of designs
Are you in “listening mode” and keen to survey your local residents? Would you like to leave them with something that they’ll want to stick on their fridge whilst promoting your personal brand? Then you’ve come to the right place. The “Listening Mode” series is a collection of leaflets and designs that can be produced to suit your needs. We can provide you with the template files so you can customise everything directly, or we can carry out the customisations for you.
Can my political party pay for this?
Yes! Your local association, CLP, union, donors or anyone you like can pay for our services – and you don’t need permission to do it. As a candidate or agent, YOU are responsible for YOUR campaign. Whilst your political party is your “shirt sponsor”, it’s your name on the ballot paper. Subject to your internal processes for payments, you may be able to claim for the expense of our services from your local party; or you can ask your leadership team to get in touch with us to provide your organisation with invoice-based billing. For all new customers, we require full payment on submission of an order, but once we have built a relationship with you, we are happy to extend billing terms to 30 days.
My party has a system for leaflets – am I allowed to use Bluetorch instead?
Yes! You can use your party’s system, or you can use ours. It’s entirely up to you as a candidate or agent. Your party’s system is provided to you as an option to support your campaigning; you are not forced to use it. There are some great templates and assets available, but there may be times when you want to buy from the broader market. We’re here to serve you!
What do I get?
This purchase is for a copy of the original Adobe InDesign file, which you can customise to suit your needs. You will need to install the font files for your political party (e.g. Proxima Nova for the Conservatives) separately, or you can use alternatives such as Montserrat or Open Sans, which are freely available from Google Fonts. Once you’ve chosen a font you’re happy with, you’ll need to insert any photos you’d like to use, and type your content.
Can you customise the design for me?
We’d love to! We’re available to hire – just email hello@bluetorch.co.uk or hit the ‘contact us‘ link to get in touch.
What is the licence that comes with the product?
The price of this product covers the cost of a non-transferable licence for you to create a derivative of the original template and to reproduce the design in print for a maximum of 150,000 prints. The licence is restricted to ONE candidate or ONE local government ward only (e.g. if you are contesting an election with 2 or 3 colleagues you can use this leaflet for all of you, but you can’t provide a copy of it to other wards/divisions).
Additional candidates and/or wards will need to buy a copy of this product to be granted a licence of their own. Copyright and licensing infringements are taken very seriously.
Will you be in my imprint?
Some campaign material must have an imprint. Imprints state who is responsible for publishing campaign material and who they’re promoting it for. Imprints help the public understand who is trying to influence them with campaign material.
Campaign material (print and digital) is any material that political parties, candidates or non-party campaigners send to voters. It could be an update about what’s happening in the constituency, information about a policy, or promotional material for an election or referendum, for example.
An imprint must include the name and address of the person or organisation who has published the material. You can be your own promoter. However, if someone is pulling together the leaflet for a candidate, the imprint also needs to include that person or organisation’s name and address as well as the person (or people) they are promoting.
Printed material must also include the name and address of the printer.
You cannot use Bluetorch Consulting Ltd in your imprint unless we have seen a copy of your proposed final leaflet and approved our company’s presence in your imprint. You can email us a copy of your leaflet to hello@bluetorch.co.uk for consideration. This should include documentary evidence to support any facts or assertions made in your leaflet.
We are also happy to help you source a printing firm if this would be helpful.
An example imprint might read as follows:
Promoted by Bluetorch Consulting Ltd, Suite 5 Clive House, 80 Prospect Hill, Redditch, B97 4BG on behalf of Councillor Joe Bloggs of Barchester Political Party, 81 Barchester Avenue, Barchester BA5 6ER. Printed by Barchester Printers, Print Avenue, Printstown, PR1 7NT.
You should always follow the guidance and rules set out by the Electoral Commission.
